Laurel Nelson has worked at UC San Diego since 2007. She was hired as the inaugural director of graduate student services for the Rady School of Management. Previous to UCSD, she worked at National University as Manager of Academic Services and Executive Assistant to the Dean of Education. She began her career teaching writing and literature before taking a project management position with Cengage Learning.
She brings to the Teaching + Learning Commons substantial breadth and depth of experience and knowledge in project management, analysis, and problem solving. She has extensive experience in roles with significant independence and responsibility, regularly demonstrating excellence as a thorough researcher, analyzer, critical thinker, and problem solver. Having worked at the Rady School of Management throughout its startup phase, Ms. Nelson brings a maturity of professional skill that makes her a key player in building the expansive structure of The Teaching + Learning Commons.
