Online Tutoring vs. Drop-in Tutoring

Tutors are available on a drop-in basis at the Teaching + Learning Commons and at scheduled sessions for online tutoring. Online tutoring is provided through an online platform (Adobe Connect) and is very similar to drop-in tutoring.

Drop-in tutoring takes place at the Teaching + Learning Commons, and online tutoring takes place wherever you have access to a computer and Internet! Online tutoring allows for tutoring to be more accessible to students.

Both online tutoring and drop-in tutoring help students:

  • Receive supportive, focused, and on-task assistance
  • Work with a trained tutor to develop strategies for success in your courses
  • Acquire effective learning and problem-solving strategies
  • Work through your questions about confusing course concepts
  • Develop exam preparation skills
  • Receive guidance on homework problems
