Director, Education Research and Assessment

The Director of the Education Research and Assessment Hub is responsible for: the management and administration of educational research and assessment activities for the Teaching + Learning Commons (the Commons); providing guidance and consultation for departments and faculty members to assess and understand student learning; initiating and collaborating in research that gauges the impact of university educational initiatives to inform programming decisions, and providing evidence about how to enhance learning and student academic success; guiding educational data mining and learning analytics to extract meaningful and actionable insights from complex multi-modal data sets about learners and their contexts. The Director of Education Research and Assessment will play a key role collaborating with campus leadership, faculty, Senior Commons Leaders in identifying needs through analysis if complex data sets, build working theories for improvement in student learning and academic success, and developing data-driven interventions. Digital Learning Senior Instructional Designer

Paramount to the success of this position is an in-depth understanding of instructional design theories and methodologies to online course design; an awareness of current trends in instructional software, multimedia applications and web-based educational technologies; an understanding of online course platforms (e.g. Canvas, Coursera, edX); a currency in best practices in online course design; and excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Digital Learning Instructional Designer

With direction from the Director of Digital Learning in the Teaching + Learning Commons, and as part of the Commons' Digital Learning team, the Instructional Designer works with faculty, instructional designers and media specialists to deploy undergraduate and graduate courses on selected Learning Management Systems. Student academic positions include associate-ins, graduate researchers, learning strategists, SI leaders, peer tutors, writing consultants, etc. While we do hire throughout the year, most of our hiring is done in spring quarter for the following academic year.
