Karla Barrón Galvan, Ed.M.

Assessment Specialist

Karla Barrón Galvan is the Assessment Specialist for the Education Research and Assessment Hub at the Teaching + Learning Commons. In her role she provides assessment planning support including workshops and consultations for academic programs and Teaching + Learning Commons staff. Prior to joining the team, she served as the Assessment & Evaluation Analyst for the Office of the Vice Chancellor-Student Affairs at UC San Diego. In that role she provided assessment and data support to Student Affairs staff, coordinated the Assessment & Evaluation Learning Community and inaugural Assessment Day, and led strategic initiatives for the VCSA including the assessment for the commitments to address anti-Blackness.

Karla is a first-generation college graduate whose academic and professional experiences have been shaped by her identities as a first-gen, low-income Latina from an immigrant family. She graduated with her BA from the University of Southern California and Ed.M from Harvard University. Her excitement for assessment comes from her drive to improve the student experience through institutional change.
