Triton Achievement Partners - Tutoring
Become a Tutor
Triton Achievement Partners in conjuction with the Teaching + Learning Commons offers peer tutoring for students enrolled in Math 2, 3C, 4C, 10A-C, 20A-E, 11 and 18 and Chemistry 6A-6C. Peer Tutors provide assistance on a drop-in basis. Peer Tutors may work with small groups of up to three students per session during walk-in tutoring. All peer tutoring sessions are held in the main branch of the Teaching + Learning Commons located on the first floor of the Geisel Library.
Tutors have the opportunity to use their skills and knowledge to help other students. Tutors help students build confidence as they enhance their understanding of course material and become more independent learners. Peer Tutors make a real difference in the lives of other students.
Development
Peer Tutors also:
- Develop an understanding of how students learn.
- Enhance interpersonal and communication skills.
- Learn skills and techniques useful for future careers.
- Retain and deepen course content knowledge for graduate and professional school entrance exams (i.e. GRE, MCAT, PCAT, DAT, etc.).
- Are paid to work part-time assisting other students with academic challenges.
Qualification for Hiring
- Earned a grade of A- or higher in the course(s) to be tutored and have completed the course at the University of California, San Diego.
- Exceptional understanding and enthusiasm for the course content.
- Available to work one or more late afternoons and/or evening shifts on Mondays through Thursdays, and/or on Sundays, for approximately 9-15 hrs/wk.
- Responsible, dependable, honest, and mature.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Friendly, patient, and sensitive to a diverse range of students.
How to Apply
- Hiring is open for Summer 2017 and the 2017-2018 academic school year.
- For Summer Session Tutors, we will be reaching out to students who have taken the courses at UC San Diego during late May for which we will offer tutoring during the summer sessions. Applicants will be contacted sometime during Spring 2017 if they are selected for an interview for openings. Tutors hired in May will be required to train and shadow current tutors during spring quarter in order to be considered for the summer session employment.

Positions are open to undergraduate students who meet the hiring requirements.
Interviewing and hiring will be conducted on a rolling basis until all positions have been filled. We only contact applicants who are selected for interviews.
