Education Research

The Teaching + Learning Commons supports the institution’s mission to advance all students’ academic success by:

  • analyzing student academic data, tracking the academic performance of cohort groups, and identifying unmet needs in teaching and learning excellence
  • assessing the effectiveness of specific student success initiatives, such as pre-matriculation programs or course redesign initiatives

Through the systematic collection and assessment of student data, the Commons supports explorations of the effectiveness of educational interventions, ongoing improvement of services and program, identification of impactful intervention opportunities and unmet learning needs. 

Collaborating with units and professionals that provide data and assessment supports on campus, the Commons utilizes existing institutional data structure, leverages educational technologies, and designs assessment measures to document the Commons’ programs and informs stakeholders on the efficacy of teaching and learning initiatives supported by the Commons.
