The Basement

 At The Basement, we serve students who want to make a difference in the world, build a startup, or develop professional skills. We offer several ways to get involved including: start-up incubators, design and innovation programs, leadership opportunities, and entrepreneurial workshops. We are a community of trailblazers - dedicated to creating solutions to better the lives of people and our planet.

The Design Lab

The UC San Diego Design Lab works on major societal issues, such as large-scale education, automation, healthcare, visualization of complex phenomena and data, social interactions, citizen science, and the ethical issues that are of ever-increasing importance. For the Design Lab, design is a way of thinking, addressing the core issues, always taking a systems point of view, and emphasizing the role of people in the complex systems of the modern world.

Makerspace

The Makerspace in the new Design and Innovation building at UCSD is a 10,000 square foot facility containing over a million dollars of tools and equipment that exists to empower students to design, build, and tinker. Open to all, students will have easy access to, and training for, everything from sewing machines to metal-cutting lasers. Immersed in a diverse community of fellow students, along with UCSD’s unparalleled wealth of staff, faculty, and community experts, students will be afforded an extraordinary opportunity to explore their field of interest, find their passion, and graduate with the practical problem-solving experience to have agency regardless of their future – as an entrepreneur or academic, artist or engineer. 

Sullivan Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Society is experiencing its most disruptive time in decades. The Sullivan Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at UC San Diego's Rady School of Management trains students, alumni, and researchers to see opportunities amid that disruption and develop impactful solutions that drive positive change. Central to the Sullivan Center experience are our expert networks of seasoned entrepreneurs, executives, and investors who support the entrepreneurial journey of students, alumni, and researchers from across campus.
