Shannon Milligan, Ph.D.

Dr. Shannon Milligan is the Director of Assessment and Education Research.  Her role includes leading and supporting assessment for the Teaching and Learning Commons and the Division of Undergraduate Education.  Within the Commons, her team helps to ensure that the Commons can demonstrate both the impact and reach of our work.  Her team also helps to foster the larger culture of assessment across the campus through support for initiatives such as Program Review, Collective Impact, and Assessment Day.

Shannon has a B.S. in Psychology and M.S. degrees in Educational Research and College Student Development, all from Oklahoma State University.  Her PhD in Educational Psychology is from the University of Illinois at Chicago; her research focus was spatio-temporal analysis in educational research.  Her professional work has largely been in Academic and Student Affairs assessment and Institutional Research.  Shannon’s contributions to the field of assessment include serving as the President of the Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education (AALHE) from 2023-2024. 

Shannon is a huge women’s sports fan, especially the San Diego Wave and Golden State Valkyries.  She’s also an avid reader and movie watcher.
