Nicholas Mattos

Senior Instructional Designer

Nicholas (Nick) Mattos is an instructional designer and technologist with a background in faculty development, classroom technology, and digital media production. He began his work in higher education at the Center for Teaching Excellence at his alma mater Loyola Marymount University, where he received a BA in Film Production. This work led him to pursue an MA in Learning Technologies from Pepperdine University, with a focus on educational leadership, and technology-enhanced teaching and learning. 

Before joining the Teaching and Learning Commons in 2021, Nick worked as an Instructional Designer for the Innovative Learning Technology Initiative (ILTI) at the UC Office of the President, where he designed cross-campus online and hybrid courses in a variety of disciplines. Nick has presented and published work on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), Action Research, digital literacy, and co-chaired the UC Instructional Design and Faculty Support (IDFS) community of practice 2020-21.
